A Letter from the Directors
|
Dear Parents, As we start our year of Awana's at Cornerstone Baptist Church, we are looking forward to your child participating! We have a terrific year of activities planned. The Awana program includes scripture memorization, game time and story time. Awana gives children a sound Biblical foundation, which they can carry with them for their entire lives. There are many ways in which you can help your child grow in his or her relationship with God through Awana. Specifically, you can work regularly with him or her on the verses in the handbook. You can answer many questions your child may have as a result of participating in Awana, and you can offer encouragement to your child as he or she works toward specific awards. Many parents choose to learn verses along with their child. |

One of the Awana Standards of Excellence encourages us to make Awana Club's fun and exciting for children to participate each week. We are excited to have this opportunity to reach children and families in our community. We are glad that you have decided to join us on this incredible journey. Please feel free to drop by and visit the Club for a little while or for an entire meeting. Your participation, encouragement and prayers are both welcomed and appreciated. What does a typical Awana night look like?

What is Awana really about? The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. Awana's Prayer - That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Awana's Vision - To be a strategic partner with churches and ministries in a global effort to ensure the opportunity for all children and youth to be evangelized and discipled in Christ. Awana's Mission - To work with our ministry partners in creating and disseminating integrated programs, tools and training that equip leaders to evangelize and disciple children and youth for Christ. |

What does a typical Awana night look like? In Flag Call & Worship, children will have prayer, worship, and announcements and salute the Bible, American, Christian & Awana flags before leaving to join their individual rooms. In Handbook Time, children work Bible verses they have learned and new ones to be memorized. In Game Time, children will play age-appropriate games, focusing on sportsmanship & cooperation, ending with a small snack. In Council Time, children will hear a Bible lesson relating to verses they are memorizing. Each night ends with Awards Time, where the older children will be awarded for the verses they have learned. |

What about fees? Awana Fees have changed for this AWANA season of 2010-2010. This year there is only one payment of $35 per child. The registration fee covers a portion of the cost for books, uniforms, awards, dues, and snacks. For any families needing assistance for registration please contact the Minister of Children. |
